With the end of the year creeping up on us, I know many parents are thinking about how to help your kids transition into the new year, whether they're changing years, schools, childcare centres or changing teachers. 🙋🏽♀️ Hands up if this is you!
- You want to set your child and their teachers/educators up for success
- You want to help your child have the best start possible for the year ahead
- You want their new teachers/educators to understand WHO your child is (not just their 'labels' or difficulties)
- You want the new teacher/educator to quickly learn how to best support your child to cope and thrive
How to set your child up for success in their new 2023 class:
Simply: It's all about communication.
One of the best ways to help new teachers or support teams learn about your child is to clearly and succinctly share the key points, written down and easily accessible.
I call this a Personal Profile. This 1-page document should be positive, factual, and easy to read. It should be ALIVE, meaning you can easily update it as needed.
I strongly recommend getting your child's input if they're ready for this!
If you'd like guidance and support to create your child's Personal Profile, I'm here to help! Join me for a recorded, on-demand workshop. The Personal Profile Workshop For Parents of Autistic & Neurodivergent Kids includes Personal Profile templates, ideas for the kinds of supports you can ask for.
You'll get 30 days' access to the recorded webinar (around 40 mins long). It will be available from 13th Dec 2022.
NDIS funding: In most cases you can use NDIS funding to get reimbursed for the cost of this workshop. When you pay for registration, you get an invoice within a few minutes, and you can use this to claim from NDIS or your Plan Manager. Generally this will come from Capacity Building funding.
